Position Overview: The position of a Laborer in the Walls division assists with the installation of sound/barrier walls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assist with the site preparation for installation of walls, which may require the use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, tamps etc.
•Operates heavy equipment when needed
•Assist with layout and construction of concrete formwork
•Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete
•Assists in erection and assembly of walls
•Provides assistance to other employees
Education and/or Experience:
•High school education or equivalent
•Carpentry experience, required
•Heavy equipment experience, preferred
•Previous experience in heavy highway construction, preferred
•Ability to read and understand construction plans, preferred
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
•Valid Drivers’ License, required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
•Attention to Detail
•Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers and the public
•Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulations
•Able to comply with all company policies and procedures
•Ability to travel and work overtime (including nights and weekends) when required
•Must have a strong work ethic
•Valid driver’s license, preferred
•Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screen.
•Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
•Able to stand, kneel, squat, bend, push, pull, climb, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the job
•Able to push and pull with hands and arms and move repetitively
•Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable
•Able to work around loud noises
•Coordination between hand, eyes, feet to guide tools, equipment and objects is required
•Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain
