Key Technical Skills

  • Assemble, install and repair underground pipe, fittings and valves of various materials and sizes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains and water mains
  • Set-up and use pipe lasers and transits to position pipe and fittings in trench conditions
  • Direct equipment operators with hand signals
  • Backfill around pipe using hand tools
  • Test pipes for leakage
  • Measure and cut pipes


The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of pipe laying. Candidates for this position must be able to read and understand blueprints and specifications to determine work procedures.

Garney expects its Pipe Layers to be able to work on their feet for an entire day, understand and perform assigned tasks, and arrive at work on time daily.
