The Set-up Technician sets up (operates, or tends) more than one type of cutting orforming machine tool or robot to blueprint specifications and is responsible for producing a quality product at the standards rate or above.
Reads blueprints, layouts, sketches, or work orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences
Sets up and operates machines, such as lathes,cutters, shears, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, and molding machines, to make metallic work pieces
Remove work pieces from machines, and check toensure that they conform to specifications, using measuring instruments such asgauges, calipers, and micrometers.
Observe milling machine operation and adjustcontrols to ensure conformance with specified tolerances
Position and secure work pieces on machines,using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools, and hoists.
Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators tomake sure a machine is working properly
