Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Material Specialist will support the plants within the region on processes and inventory, planning, purchasing execution, sourcing, warehousing areas.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Lead Material Specialist, you will:

  • Partner with sourcing to reduce Lead times
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes to minimize inventory while maximizing on-time delivery on Raw material
  • Coordinate with Buyers prioritize with vendors according with Master Scheduler program  for the lines to be shipped
  • Facilitate Raw and In-Process (RIP) inventory management  and  inventory programs
  • Lead weekly pacing metrics with schedulers and buyers within the region plants (tactical and strategic)
  • Inventory accuracy on the plants warehouse
  • RIP project execution
  • Further tasks not involved in this Job Description that the immediate leader / manager assigns verbally or in writing


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years in sourcing, planning, or logistics

Additional Elgibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Technical / engineering experience is preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent Quality certification
  • Familiarity with any integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (preferably SAP)
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, Excel and Outlook
  • Demonstrated communication, analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a cross functional and multi-task environment.  
  • Demonstrated problem solving, creativity, and process management
  • Team player attitude
  • High energy, self-starter, ability to achieve results with minimal supervision
  • Operations  Management Leadership Program (OMLP) graduate
  • Ability to handle emergency and stressful situations
